All Roads to Lead to Rome

But where is Rome?

Ok, i know that's a metaphor. Fine. Then what is Rome?

In this world of freedom of choice, everyone can choose what they want. Therefore, it seems as though one man's Rome is probably another man's eh, i dunno, Brasília?

So any means will bring you to any end? That doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Maybe this is too chim for me to handle. Let's reconsider Rome as a destination then.

Probably the only thing that everyone has in common no matter who you are is that everone will die.

That's ignoring the possiblities brought about by cryonics.

And ignoring the after life as well.

Oh well.

"I pray that medical science can save me."

Been thinking of this recently for i also dunno what reason. I think it is a quote from 'The Simpsons' but i can't confirm.

Anyway, I tried cooking on Vesak Day and touched the frying pan for the first time in more than 2 years.

I couldn't believe my luck: the egg was beautifully cooked!

Of course i knew better than to believe in my luck.

The toaster spoilt and whatever that was inside got burnt.

In what seems like the blink of the eye (i haven't blinked the other yet), another month has passed.

April has come.

I am not going to talk about growing moustaches like i did the other time. Rather, i believe that this month has brought us closer to May. And june. And july. And august. And so on. Whichever may be the month that holds a special meaning for you.

This may sound dumb, but there's nothing much to do if one has nothing to look forward to.

Well anyway, I've been thinking. Strong weapon + strong shield = 自相矛盾?

Well, i originally intended to answer my own question on 'the world' with the help of some numbers concerning the size of the universe but i can't find the youtube video that made such an impression on me. So anyway, i'll just put it in my words.

According to that video, the universe, which is still expanding at this time as i type, the universe is big. F-ing huge. To help put things into clearer perspective, that video used one small part of the universe to make the matter simpler for everyone.

Let us consider the solar system. Or to be more precise, let us look at Jupiter, the biggest planet in the solar system and Earth, the place we call home. If we are to create a to-scale diagram of the solar system and we take Earth to be the size of a pea, Jupiter would be the size of ten peas. If we put the one pea that we call Earth on the ground, the ten peas that represent Jupiter would be 100 floors up. 100 floors is a few times taller than your typical flat. And that is only the distance from Earth to Jupiter.

Ok, random.

Well, That Was A Long Break

I haven't touched this blog for a year.

What have i been doing?

I did my duty, got to ndp, got screwed, got angry, got some ideas, got my ic, got to korea, got my house painted, got a job, got to meet some nice ppl, got another job...

Well, i initially had plans to write about my trip to korea after some instigation from some of my friends. But procrastination got in the way and i've delayed blogging until now, which is 2 months after i got back. Maybe i'll do it another day.

Throughout this year, I may have grown tired, grown more sceptical and grown some moustache. But i can't say for sure if i've grown more mature. It seems as though the more we know, the more we realise that there are still more things out there that we don't know.

As a child, we are spoon fed information that we've been told is good for us. We get to the point when we are convinced that we are able to solve anything in the world. And then we realise, that what we think we know about the world is not even the tip of the ice berg.

What is 'the world' anyway?

A few months of not having a full weekend AND missing my Christmas AND New Year AS WELL AS 除夕和初二 has made me appreciate a group of people who are always left out of the celebration because such is the nature of their job.

People such as:
  • Policeman (as in the REAL sign on policeman and woman)
  • Nurses (they pop up in my mind for some reason)
  • Doctors (since i've included nurses)
  • Taxi and bus drivers (w/o them, i can't even book out even if it's a PH)
  • And lots of many others whom i've forgotten.
And of course, the most forgotten, unappreciated, misunderstood of all...

My unit.

i think i'm going crazy.

everyday is the same old routine over and over.

i've forgotten what a weekend is.

i don't know what's in store for me after ns.

i just realised that male and female friends usually cannot go out as a pair because apparently something is wrong if you do so.

i also feel that there is something wrong about being nice, exactly what, i don't know.

the advertisement on tv asking where one will be on the last moment is also particularly annoying and demoralising as i know i will be on duty.
